ecosystem services. Evidence-based decision making supports responsible landscape management, which is needed especially in protected and exposed areas with many interests of future use.
Here, we focused on land cover change and level of landscape fragmentation in seven protected areas in the Ústí nad Labem region. Based on the data describing land cover in four horizons (1950s, around 1990, between 2002 and 2006 and the year 2017) we delimited two types of a landscape: the forested one with a high forest cover and the agricultural-forested landscape with a forest and also with the open landscape, built-up areas and a higher level of landscape fragmentation as well.
The agriculturalforested landscape has 3 times higher level of landscape fragmentation (when built-up areas and roads were used) than forested landscape. The level of landscape fragmentation was 10 times higher in both types when paths were added.
