How to teach dance online?

Abstract

This article discusses an alternative way of teaching movement that has been necessitated by coronavirus restrictions. The authors try to introduce online teaching to other teachers, trainers, lecturers, coaches, etc., using the example of teaching dance techniques.

The aim of the research was to find out whether dance instructors had used online teaching during the coronavirus epidemic and, if so, which applications had worked best for them. The qualitative research was based on a questionnaire survey conducted with a group of 13 instructors and 10 students during the coronavirus restrictions and subsequent analysis of the responses.

Of the available apps, dance instructors used the Zoom app the most. Based on the results, a methodology was further developed to teach general movement online via the Zoom app, which had been validated by more than a year of practical online teaching.
