Abstract
The video about watermarks is one of the supplementary materials created for the exhibition Ugly Manuscripts. Its purpose was to illustrate what watermarks are, how we identify them and what other information they can give us about manuscripts.
The examples used were watermarks from the manuscripts of the Crux of Telč, which were on display at the exhibition. We also showed how the writing surface, the so-called mirror, was prepared using these manuscripts.
The video ended with examples of the work of the bookbinding workshop in Třeboň, whose bindings have also been preserved on some of the manuscripts of the Crux of Telč.
