Abstrakt
This chapter, part of the prestigious Handbook of Spanish Syntax published by Routledge, is devoted to the basic concepts of (not only Spanish) syntax, namely syntactic units, relations and categories. The text describes historical and contemporary interpretations of these concepts in Spanish syntax, relates them to various syntactic concepts, and comments on possible further developments.
