Abstract

In the treatment of burns, pain most often occurs during the removal of necrotic tissue, dressings, rehabilitation, surgical procedures and other medical procedures during hospitalization. Although pain is a spontaneous response to a painful stimulus, this process is still controlled.

As a result, the patient is exposed not only to an unpleasant feeling of pain but also to physical and mental stress. To effectively reduce the feeling of pain, multidisciplinary cooperation is needed, including phys- icians, medical staff, psychologists, as well as appropriate technical means to detach from the feeling of pain.

The aim of the paper is to present the main goals of the ongoing project and also to point out the possibilities of using elements of virtual reality in the management of procedural pain in patients with burn trauma.
