Abstract
In the first part, the paper will briefly introduce reading literacy, the importance of reading strategies for the development of literacy skills, appropriate methods and forms of work including appropriate tools and books from children's and young adult literature. The second part will be devoted to the presentation of the new diagnostic battery of literacy skills PorTex, which was developed and standardised within the framework of the TAČR project at the Department of Psychology of the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University.
