There is an ongoing debate whether antihypertensive treatment with beta-blockers and/or ACE-inhibitors entails a risk for more severe systemic sting reactions (SSR) as well as more frequent side-effects during venom immunotherapy (VIT). This first sufficiently powered study investigating the impact of beta-blockers and/or ACE inhibitors on the severity of anaphylaxis and side-effects during VIT clearly showed that antihy-pertensive treatment neither increased the risk of more severe SSR nor of side-effects while receiving VIT.
