Intersex persons: Not mistakes but God's image

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2022

Abstract

The stories of intersex people tell of their deep conviction of being born and treated as biological mistakes. Their bodies do not fit into the categories of male or female and challenge the traditional teaching that people are created in God's image as man and woman.

The article provides a theological analysis of the concept of imago Dei which opens a space for intersex people to discover the fullness of humanity as people also created as imago Dei.
