Reflections on Ethnography: From Dogma to Heterodoxy

Publication at Faculty of Humanities |
2013

Abstract

The introductory chapter of the collective monograph develops an account of ethnography as a creative process in which data production, theorizing, reflexivity, and different modes of writing intersect, as do social relations in the field and in the epistemic community. As 'situated empiricism', it is characterized by intellectual openness and a principled emphasis on understanding ambiguity rather than confirming or refuting clear-cut hypotheses.
