Abstract
The study deals with three stories that thematize the character of the prophet Elijah known from the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament. They are Sholem Aleichem's short story Elijah the Prophet, a collection of stories Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass by Bruno Schulz and Nabokov's short story The Thunderstorm.
