Abstract

Respiratory medicine in the Czech Republic is currently facing several challenges. Discussions on the optimal management of rare diseases, defined as those with a prevalence lower than 1:2000, are one of the hot topics.

According to European Commission data, it is estimated that more than 600,000 people in the Czech Republic are affected by rare diseases. Currently, there is no systematic approach to healthcare for these patients, which leads to significant differences in the quality of their management.
