Abstract
We believe that there is a pressing need to accelerate research on already existing and to-be-discovered heavy metal-driven RCDs, their physiological functions, molecular machinery, signaling pathways, implication in diseases and pharmacological modulators. The discovery of zincoptosis, if it exists, will reinforce the concept that heavy metals induce distinct forms of cell death and fuel research in the field of cancer biology.
