R. B. v. Hungary (effective investigation and "verbal" hate crime). Commentary

Abstract

Through the commented judgment, the Court has once again opened up the issue of hate crime. It has taken another significant step towards broader and more effective protection of vulnerable groups against hate crime, whether it be of a physical or "merely" verbal nature.

In general terms, the Court has reaffirmed its strict stance on matters of racism, xenophobia, and intolerance.
