Are we in the era of total neoadjuvant treatment in rectal cancer?

Abstract

Long term standard for treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer was neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by radical surgery and eventually adjuvant chemotherapy in selected patients. Stagnation of oncological outcomes of clasical approach lead to a new concept called total neoadjuvant treatment (TNT).

This article offers review of most recent TNT studies and their significance for clinical pratice.
