What can we built on in the initial pre-service chemistry teacher training?

Abstract

The plenary lecture covered six studies conducted in the several couple of years among freshman chemistry teacher students. The studies focused on their motivation to become teachers, their skills and expectations regarding laboratory courses, their conceptual knowledge and knowledge, skills regarding chemistry calculations and balancing chemistry formulas and, lasfurther research.t but not least, the students' problem-solving skills.

The results were complemented with implications and call to further research.
