Abstract

The title of the scientific conference "Law and the Ideal of Goodness and Justice" encompasses two fundamental values that have always been associated with legal regulation. As early as the ancient Roman jurists considered law as "ars aequi et boni" This "art" in their understanding included both the creation of law and its application with the aim of finding legal solutions to social relations that can be considered optimal, i.e. decent and just from the point of view of both the individual and society.

It is difficult to fully define the content of this requirement, both because of its multilayered nature and because of the necessary relativity of its two elements
