Abstract
Liberalism is not merely a political ideology, but also a still lively intellectual phenomenon that co-founded and sustains modern society. Though it has transformed over the course of history and incorporated multiple ideological currents, it has consistently stood on the side of freedom and the individual.
Liberalism proved its viability and adaptability in the past. Even today, it is not a hollow ideology as it faces anti-liberal trends and new challenges.
In its moder social variant, it represents a reasonable alternative to all current oppressive and destructive ideologies, movements and trends. Furthermore, it enables the co-existence of members of different cultures in the context of actual multiculturalism without sacrificing the traditional individualistic foundation of western culture.
