Abstract

The Nostitz Library in Prague was founded by Johann Hartwig of Nostitz (1610-1683) after acquiring the library of his late brother Otto Jr. of Nostitz (1608-1665). The oldest part of the book collection of the Prague Nostitz Library, founded in 1670, is made up of books from the collections of the noblemen and burghers from the 16th and 17th century.

During research at the University Library in Wrocław (Biblioteka Uniwersytecka we Wrocławiu (BUWI) undertaken in frame of research project focused on the Nostitz Library more than 100 books were found that belonged to the same Silesian book collections as the books in the library of Otto Jr. of Nostitz. They mostly arrived to the BUWr together with the libraries of the Silesian monasteries after their dissolution in the late 18th and 19th century.

This article presents the most interesting of them.
