Abstract

An interdisciplinary therapeutic program in neurogeriatric rehabilitation primarily focuses on existing deficits, taking into account the possibility of current personal burden. One of the first goals of this comprehensive individual therapy is the mobilization of the patient, which is mainly carried out in physiotherapy, and the improvement of independence in the needs of daily life - ADL (activities of daily living) training in occupational therapy.

Speech therapy aims to enable non-verbal and verbal communication through the establishment of the communication code, but it also works with various forms of facio-oral stimulation, mainly aimed at enabling the oral acceptance of food through the therapy of swallowing disorders. Neuropsychology starts, if possible, with basic bedside diagnosis and partly, in addition to counselling, with cognitive therapy.

An early start is important, followed by a continually transition to the next phases of rehabilitation.
