Abstract
The Czech painter Josef Šíma first came to poeticism and surrealism, later in France he created a distinctive form of painting in the Le Grand Jeu group, combining the ideological principles of symbolism with modernist painting tools, going to the edge of abstraction. In contacts with domestic painting and poetry, he became a support for the self-confidence of a number of modern Czech artists.
