A rescue excavation of the old graveyard at the Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in Ústí nad Orlicí

Abstract

In 2017, a rescue excavation was carried out in the form of test pits dug in the area of the old graveyard in Ústí nad Orlicí, a town first mentioned in 1292. The excavation yielded unique Mesolithic chipped stone tools and demonstrated ground modifications and burials on the site during the High Middle Ages and the Modern era.
