Abstract

The aim of this article is to acquaint the reader with the development of Czech family policy and with current measures at the international level in the context of the changing form of the family. The family of the 21st century is characterised by a high degree of diversity, but also of instability and vulnerability.

Despite this, the Czech Republic's fertility rate in 2021 is 1.83 per woman, the highest since 1992, and the divorce rate is 39.7%, the lowest since the beginning of the 21st century. Family policy aims to meet the needs of families and take into account their interests and attitudes through conceptual documents and the implementation of corresponding measures, Priorities of family policy are also strongly influenced by political representation and government priorities.

Family policy is planned and implemented not only at nation al and regional level, but also at EU level. The Czech Republic takes into account the priorities anchored in European strategic documents, currently the Action Plan for the European Social Pillar, in planning and implementing measures to support families
