Abstract
In my disertation employing a theoretical framework based on fictional worlds theory and unnatural narratology I am concerned with fantastic elements in the works of four Japanese authors: Ōe Kenzaburō, Murakami Haruki, Medoruma Shun and Tawada Yōko. I define fantastic as a play with what is possible or impossible in the fictional world of the text and also as a narrative means allowing expression of meanings that are impossible to approach with mimetic means of expression.
In this paper I am introducing my thesis, the theoretical and analytic framework it is based on and the results of my research.
