In this book review of Vicari's Digital Media and Participatory Cultures of Health and Illness (2021), the author assesses Vicari's approach to participatory cultures and digital media and their role on today's society. The author critically evaluates all three main parts of the book (excl. introduction and conclusions) and discussess the choices Vicari made in her research and the overall positivist approach of the book but looks into serious topics such as living with BRCA gene mutations or digital participation during covid-19 pandemic.
