The research seeks to understand the role of the Church in the production of the representations of Muslims as a mechanism of segregation but also as a bridge builder for peaceful encounters and coexistence. In the same sense, it seeks to interpret: how were the representations of Muslims according to Christian discourses? What were their meanings? How did these representations influence the way how Christians interacted with non-Christians? And how the producers of these ecclesiastical discourses shaped and built their identities and at the same time legitimized their dominance.
