The Role of CXCL2 in Acute Cellular Rejection after Lung Transplantation

Abstract

Purpose: Despite extensive research, the immunopathological mechanisms underlying graft rejection are far from being understood. Neutrophils belong to the first immune cell subpopulation to infiltrate the transplanted organ.

Their extravasation into lung graft promotes allograft rejection. To provide insight into the immune cell interactions that may accompany acute cellular rejection in lung transplantation (LuTx), we have analyzed the peripheral blood concentrations of CXCL2 (Gro-β), as this chemokine has been previously shown to regulate neutrophil chemotaxis and trafficking.
