Abstract

Drug induced acute pancreatitis is worldwide a very rare cause of acute pancreatitis at all. In the literature and in the statistics it comprises only 0.1-2 % of all cases of acute pancreatitis.

Nowadays, more than 200 potential dangerous drugs are specified, that they can cause acute pancreatitis. The exact mechanism of this adverse drug reaction is still unclear and to establish the diagnosis one has to exclude more common form of acute pancreatitis (caused especially by gallstones and alcohol) and find the time connection with recieving a new, risky medication.
