The core of the book is an extensive interview with František Wiendl Jr. (b. 1923) was led by his son Jan (b. 1969) about the borderline situations and events that František Wiendl and those closest to him experienced during the long periods of two totalitarian regimes in Bohemia. During the Second World War and in the protectorate, František Wiendl and his father participated in resistance activities and directly participated in the uprising in Klatovy in May 1945.
But the center of memory lies mainly in the period after February 1948, when he was significantly involved in the democratic, anti-communist resistance. The consequence for him was many years of imprisonment in Jáchymov camps and fixed prisons.
The text, presenting the narrative, has not only a witness but also a literary value, and is accompanied by photographs and reproductions of other sources; the section dedicated to his years in prison is also interspersed with excerpts from letters that František addressed to his mother Maria and to his father František Wiendla Sr., who was imprisoned in the Leopoldov prison at the time.
