Abstract
Over the centuries, the intellectual and artistical heritage of ancient Greece and Rome fundamentally shaped the contemporary culture of Western Europe and resonates in it up to now. Masterpieces of ancient art were not only an object of admiration and collecting passion, but also an ideal, inexhaustible source of creative inspiration.
The desire to own, imitate and create was present, albeit in more muted tones, naturally also in the Czech environment. The publication captures the fascinating world of these ancient echoes through the eyes of eleven authors.
