Abstract

The expressiveness and emotionality of the speeches of modern politicians testify to the tendency to "theatricalization" and popularization of politics.

Czech politicians use phraseological units in the implementation of various speech strategies: presentational (demonstrating their political position), interpretive (explaining the essence of phenomena or events) and discrediting (statements aimed at removing the authority and credibility of the opponent).

Phraseologisms are not only a means of creating unique imagery and expressiveness in the speeches of politicians, but also a tool for influencing the recipient's consciousness and shaping his image of the world. The use of phraseological units in the speeches of Czech politicians has a manipulative effect on the addressee and helps the speaker to achieve the goal of communication.
