Abstract

This chapter addresses the phenomenon of reality television within the context of media ethics. It provides a recapitulation of existing ethical analyses pertaining to reality television, which encompass the exploitation of participants, notably children, and the exploitation of performers, the simulation of authentic reality, and the normalization of a surveillance culture.

Furthermore, it proposes the exploration of the exploitation of social class in reality television as an additional subject for ethical evaluation.
