Abstract

Understanding of hot electrons is vital in numerous areas, including laboratory astrophysics and inertial confinement fusion. Here we showcase experimental findings obtained from the Prague Asterix Laser System (PALS) to characterize the distribution of hot electrons when irradiated with a laser at an intensity of 10^16 W.cm^-2 on a 25 μm thick Sn foil.

At PALS, we designed multi-channel electron spectrometers to obtain the information on electron energy distribution, temperature, and total charge. Additionally, we measure plasma characteristics by employing three-frame interferometry to measure the electron density distribution.
