Abstrakt
Sciatic neuropathy due to an intraneural hemorrhageis very uncommon. The intraneural hemorrhage may be responsible for excessive pressure inside the epifascicular epineurium covering the sciatic nerve.
Intra-neural high pressure leads to fascicular compression and progressive axonal injury diagnosed with electrodiagnostic tests. A 35 year-old woman was referred to our department for ultrasound (US) examination forher left atrophic calf.
She was eventually suspected to have chronic axonal injury of the left tibial nerve - more evident at the branches innervating the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle. To summarize, reporting this interesting/rare condition , we aimed to once again advocate the potential contribution of US examination in the prompt management of peripheral nerve disorders.
