Abstract
The book offers the first published collection of poems (Gedichte) by the Austrian poet Georg Trakl. The introductory study provides a detailed analysis of the poet's poetics and some of the circumstances of his life that strongly influence the interpretation of the poems and the literary and human image of their author.
This is followed by a new Czech artistic translation of the poems, which strives for maximum possible fidelity in content and form. The largest part of the book is occupied by a detailed commentary on all the poems, quite unique in world Trakl scholarship, in which individual poems and verses are discussed, as well as various syntactical, grammatical and interpretive peculiarities and ambiguities.
