Abstract

The paper is focused on the reception of Dante Alighieri in Bohemia and Moravia in the first half of the 20th century. The aim of this paper is to introduce the personality and work of Moravian philologist and aesthetic theorist Jaroslav Hruban who followed up on the development of the interwar Italian Dantology.

He was heavily influenced by Dante Alighieri also in his creative literary work. Through it, the question is then raised whether there actually was something as a cult of Dante Alighieri in the Bohemian and Moravian context.
