The problematics of glass in the Italian Iron Age is in the current research quite understudied. This relation is based on my thesis, which aim was to change this situation.

Glass ornaments of the studied region are quite varied, as expected the majority consists of beads in glass or other vitreous materials. The most common characteristics of this kind of ornaments are the blue colour of the body and the flattened spherical shape.

Beads are mostly undecorated, otherwise, the prevalent kind of decoration is the circular one, in the Early iron age is in the foreground decoration with simple or concentric circles but in the 6th century became more popular different variations on stratified eyes, common is also linear decoration. The percentage of different types of beads is changing over the centuries but also on the different sites in the region.

Except for beads in northern Italy present also Glasbügelfibeln in the (Early Iron Age), spindle whorls (though these are not literally personal ornaments, however, they share many characteristics) exceptional are finds of glass finger rings and hairpins.
