The President of the Czech Republic as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces - New Approaches to the Powers in the Area of Security and Foreign Policy
Abstract
The paper deals with the exercise of the powers of the President of the Czech Republic in the field of security and foreign policy, especially how it has been shifting and changing recently. The author analyzes phenomena such as the direct election, the effects of the RUS-UKR conflict or the question of war and peace as the main motive of the presidential elections in 2023.
These selected phenomena are then analyzed in more detail with the aim of determining the degree to which they influence the exercise of the powers of the President in the area of security and foreign policy. At the same time, the author aims to indicate trends for the future, especially new approaches to the exercise of powers that the newly elected head of state can apply in the office.
The current period of the accession is an opportunity to look back, discuss the role and position of the President as well as for considerations de constiutione ferenda.
