Virtual Reality Technology for Supporting and Caring for Individuals with Cognitive Impairments and Dementia"
This research aims to provide a comprehensive description of the fundamental principles of developing Mixed Reality technology-based applications (AR, VR, 360/3D Content) that cater to the needs and abilities of users with mild cognitive impairment or dementia in terms of visual and textual information (UX/UI). The study explores whether recommendations from environmental gerontology, such as colour schemas and patterns, are usable for VR solutions and specific peculiarities like viewing angles for people with dementia in VR. It also examines whether there are other specific requirements for UI/UX design in VR/AR solutions for individuals with dementia and whether additional requirements for the WCAG standard are necessary. Additionally, the study explores whether popular platforms and engines like the Roblox Video Game Engine, Meta Verse, and LEGO Hidden Side can be used to create unique games and social activities for people with dementia or if a separate world needs to be built.
