Participation of refugees in the creation and modification of psychosocial intervention methodology (action research)

Abstract

The chapter is devoted to the description of client participation in system modification social work with migrants from third countries and asylum seekers in Schengen space during the first three months of stay in the destination country. Active participation the client in the process of providing social services and especially psychosocial services intervention is one of the basic prerequisites for the success of the integration process.

The participatory approach is widely used in the provision of social services, for this target group, however, the specifics given are mainly non-negligible cultural differences and also the highly burdensome situation that abandonment entails brings to the country. Knowledge obtained from field research among target persons groups and providers of psychosocial interventions and the use of this knowledge for the modification of the methodology of psychosocial interventions provided to persons from the target group are the focus of this chapter.
