Abstract
From a historical perspective, the chapter introduces the Charter of Rights of Children in Hospital - a code of ethics that can serve as a reliable guide to good paediatric practice. The Charter is based on the principles of Family-Centred Care (FCC), which views the paediatric patient in the context of his or her family.
The professional guarantor and promoter of the Charter is the European Association for the Welfare of Children in Hospital (EACH) - hence the document is also known as the EACH Charter.
