Japan publishes guidelines for protecting human rights in supply chains

Abstract

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry published the final version of the Guidelines on Respecting Human Rights in Responsible Supply Chains in fall 2022. More than a decade after the adoption of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), Japan has thus become the first Asian country to follow the example of the UNGPs in regulating human rights in supply chains.
