Six years after signing the amended peace deal with the FARC guerrilla in November 2016, there is an overall public perception of a resurgence of violence in Colombia, especially with the number of events and victims registered in the aftermath of the nationwide protests held between 2019-2021. With the military dissolution of one of the central combat dyads, official authorities still refer to this era as a post-conflict period, if not a cycle of conflict transformation.

Conversely, according to the 1990-2022 data available from the Registro Único de Víctimas (RUV), the homicide rate has revealed a decreasing trend since 2002, showing the last sharp decline coinciding with the first unilateral ceasefire declared by FARC in 2012. This paper aims to apply Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) on selected conditions to find one or more plausible causal complexities that could help understand why despite signed peace accords, violence is still present in some of the (33) analysed territories.
