Abstract

The study explores the response of the Musculus gastrocnemius to acute hypoxia. Obese mice exposed to 12% O2 normobaric hypoxia for six hours showed reduced energy expenditure, increased blood glucose, and decreased respiratory exchange ratio.

This suggests hypoxia may impact muscle remodeling and denervation, potentially contributing to aging and obesity.
