HOW TO RETRIEVE FAILURE SUCCESFULLY TEST 34: FOREIGN BODIES INTO THE MAXILLARY SINUS

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2023

Abstract

The authors present a case of self-inflicted foreign bodies into the maxillary sinus. Most objects (60%) enter the sinuses in connection with iatrogenic injuries during dental, ophthalmological or otorhinolaryngological procedures.

Foreign bodies introduced by the patient into the maxillary sinus are rarely diagnosed. The size of the shape and localization of the object using cone beam CT determine the choice of therapeutic technique.

The endoscopic canine fossa approach is a universal, safe and proven treatment method under local anaesthesia.
