Abstract
The article is devoted to honey from a cultural-anthropological point of view. After the introduction, where honey is defined from a biological and technological point of view, there follows an overview of the functions of honey as an offering, currency, symbol, ceremonial food with an emphasis on the territory of the Czech Republic, but with the background of Judeo-Christian culture, which, however, also contains ideological and religious currents ancient Egypt, Crete, ancient Greece and Rome.
The article takes into account Czech folk culture.
