Abstract

The present paper is a case study dealing with the issue of pronunciation of Czech learners of Spanish as a foreign language taking into account the interference of the mother tongue. In language teaching we consider the issue of pronunciation and correction to be important, since, according to our opinion and experience, in general, in language teaching not enough attention is paid to the perfection of pronunciation.

The aim of the present work is to observe the ability of Czech pupils to pronounce Spanish correctly and to assess the interference at the phonetic level between Czech and Spanish. For this purpose we focus on the glottal stop, a phonetic phenomenon not yet sufficiently studied by means of comparative linguistics.
