Abstract
According to statistics from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, between five and six hundred children are physically abused in the Czech Republic each year. Between 2015 and 2021, 436 children were hospitalised and 16 children died as a result of physical abuse.
However, only 160 perpetrators have been convicted in direct relation to child physical abuse in the last seven years. Qualified estimates suggest that between 90 and 200 thousand children may be abused in the Czech Republic each year.
