The book is the first comprehensive Czech publication dealing with constitutional customs. It offers their systematic theoretical and empirical analysis.
After a theoretical introduction and a short excursion to Central European countries, the authors move to the territory of the Czech Republic and explain how and why constitutional customs have developed in our country and how they influence the functioning of the Czech democratic regime. In addition to the established ones, they also try to enforce some other constitutional customs, which ultimately failed.
It is remarkable, although not surprising, that Czech constitutional customs, with one exception, concern the president of the republic. The reasons are described in the book.
Constitutional customs are often a controversial concept, but often a key one, which is good to know in any case.
