In 2023, the first direct translation of ancient Egyptian love poetry into Slovak will be published. The authors are Silvia Štubňová-Nigrelli (literal translation), Katarína Džunková (poetic translation) and Martin Odler (accompanying text).
The lecture focused on the circumstances of the origin of this literary corpus, whose authors came from ancient Egypt from the 19th dynasty, around the 13th century BCE. It is the most extensive preserved corpus of ancient women's love poetry.
The lecture included readings of excerpts of the translations, discussed problems of translation, and showed excerpts of own poetry.
