A lecture focused on the presentation of the project of a six-volume edition of Karel Havlíček's correspondence. In selected excerpts, the lecture introduces the various roles which Havlíček played in the correspondence: son, friend, suitor, editor or public figure...

The second part of the lecture focuses on Havlíček's communication with the authorities shortly before the outbreak of the 1848 revolution.
